Short-Term Visiting Positions at Girton College

Girton College invites applications for a limited number of Short-Term Visiting Positions (STVPs), open to scholars of exceptional merit from across the world. These prestigious visiting positions are designed to enable researchers to pursue independent scholarship while engaging with Girton’s vibrant intellectual community.

STVPs offer scholars from across disciplines the opportunity to spend a concentrated period of time at Girton College, in a welcoming and stimulating academic environment. 

We warmly encourage applications from scholars of all backgrounds and disciplines whose work will contribute to the continued vitality and global reach of Girton College.

 

Applicants should submit the following documents:

  1. An up-to-date curriculum vitae, including current academic/professional roles and full contact information.
  2. A list of publications.
  3. A statement (max 2,000 words) outlining the research to be undertaken during the visit.
  4. A cover letter explaining your reasons for applying to Girton College and describing any connections or collaborations with current Fellows.
  5. An indication of your preferred term for the visit (Michaelmas or Lent).
  6. Confirmation that you have made or will make contact with a relevant Faculty, Department, or academic group within the University of Cambridge.
  7. The names and contact details of two academic referees.

Applications will be evaluated against the following:

  • Fit with the College’s strategic priorities and commitment to global scholarly excellence.
  • Opportunities for collaboration and networking with Girton Fellows and the wider Cambridge academic community.
  • Quality and originality of the research proposal and strength of references.
  • Please note that there are no interviews, and due to volume, we regret that we cannot offer feedback on unsuccessful applications.
  • All applicants will be notified of the outcome by the published deadlines.
