Girton College is recruiting Student Callers to work on our annual Telephone Campaign from 30 March to 17 April 2027.
If you enjoy meeting new people, are a confident communicator, and would like to earn £13.45 per hour while making a meaningful difference to the College community, we'd love to hear from you.
This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with alumni around the world, develop valuable transferable skills, gain professional experience, and support current and future Girton students.

Who We're Looking For
We're seeking students who are:
- Friendly, enthusiastic and enjoy talking to people
- Reliable, organised and punctual
- Positive, resilient and comfortable speaking with a range of individuals
- Confident ambassadors for Girton College
- Able to treat personal information with discretion and confidentiality
The Role
As a Student Caller, you will:
- Speak with Girton alumni by telephone, hearing about their experiences of College and life since graduation
- Share news and updates from Girton, including your own experiences as a current student
- Build connections with alumni working across a wide range of professions and industries
- Help alumni understand the difference philanthropy makes to students and the wider College community
- Invite alumni to support Girton through charitable giving
This is not cold calling. Alumni will have had the opportunity to opt out of receiving calls before the campaign begins.

Making A Meaningful Impact
Funds raised through the Telephone Campaign help ensure that talented students can thrive at Girton regardless of their financial circumstances. Every conversation will contribute to strengthening the lifelong connection between alumni and the College.
Training and Support
No previous fundraising experience is required.
All Student Callers receive comprehensive training before the campaign begins, covering:
- Communication skills
- Effective telephone fundraising techniques
- Data protection and confidentiality
- Campaign objectives and key messages
- Handling different types of conversations
Throughout the campaign you will be fully supported by the Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement Office team.
Practical Details
The campaign will take place from a dedicated calling room within College.
Calling shifts are scheduled during evenings and weekends to fit around study commitments and revision.
Successful applicants will be expected to attend all training sessions and campaign shifts where possible.
