Detailed below are the most commonly asked questions by our wedding customers, with the answers given to help you in your planning and preparation.

You can have your wedding at Girton College all year round, with the exception of May through to the end of June when our students will be sitting their examinations. Our most popular period for bookings is between the start of July and the middle of September, but we can also host a limited number of autumn and winter weddings

Girton alumni are eligible to apply to hold their ceremony in the College Chapel, dependent upon availability. Please discuss the application process with the College Chaplain.

Yes, we offer a 15% discount on the Venue Hire Charge 

Yes, civil ceremonies can be hosted at Girton College.

Yes, civil partnerships can be hosted at Girton College.

In terms of civil ceremonies at the College, we can host a maximum of 60 guests in the Stanley Library and 120 guests in the Old Hall.

With regard to the wedding breakfast, the maximum number is 200 guests in the Great Hall. We operate a minimum number of 75 guests for the full wedding package on key dates during the peak periods of the year – namely July and August. Our team will give you more detailed information when you make your enquiry.
 

Yes, we have free parking facilities for approximately 60 cars on-site at the College.

From July to the middle of September we can offer a range of accommodation within the College. Dependent upon availability, we can offer a selection of double en-suites, single en-suites, twin en-suites and standard bedrooms.

As part of the wedding package we include a changing room for you to use. Additional room requirements for early arrivals etc. can be discussed and arranged with your wedding co-ordinator.

All catering at Girton College is provided by our own in-house team, and we do not allow catering to be brought in, except Wedding cakes. However, we’re confident that our team can work with you to provide a wide, and if necessary, bespoke range of catering possibilities.

I'm afraid that we do not allow clients to bring their own wine or other alcohol. Our suppliers can source a large range of wines, Champagnes and other drinks so we are confident that we can provide what you are looking for.

Children of all ages are very welcome to attend wedding ceremonies and receptions at Girton College. We can provide highchairs and cater for children’s dining requirements – from half-portions of the main meal to children’s menus.
 

There are very few restrictions at Girton College. From the traditional wedding band, DJ or ceilidh through to an 18-piece 1920s jazz orchestra, we’ve hosted a full range of entertainment at past weddings here at the College. Just discuss your ideas with your wedding co-ordinator.

Absolutely! We now have specific packages for this style of event and they can be found in Packages and Prices in the weddings section.

You may throw confetti at the College, but it must be bio-degradable and only in specific areas. Details of these can be discussed further with your wedding co-ordinator.

We’re happy to let you know who we’ve worked with at the College at previous events, but you’re completely free to source your own suppliers in these areas.

To secure your selected date at Girton College you’ll need to return a signed copy of the booking contract and payment of the initial 25% deposit (based upon an estimation of the overall event). Once you’ve done this, your booking is confirmed. The invoice for the outstanding balance will be issued on the first working day after the wedding day.

No. This part of the day must be managed by the couple themselves. The College does not organise or take any responsibility for this area of organisation.
