Upcoming Girton College Outreach Events

Join us for enriching masterclasses, immersive taster days, engaging talks, and exciting events. Experience hands-on learning, connect with like-minded individuals, and be inspired by thought-provoking discussions and activities.

These events provide a dynamic and supportive environment for personal and professional growth, whether you're a school student, teacher, or parent/supporter.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate requests for in-person Careers and HE Fairs for 2025-26. However, please do still let us know about your event by contacting access@girton.cam.ac.uk as we would be delighted to send some resources to be displayed. Together, we can discuss how we can best support your students with our upcoming programme of events for the year.

Third Party Programmes or Initiatives

If your programme or charity would be interested in working with Girton College, please complete our short form for your request to be considered.

In-person events

More information about the below events will be advertised in due course:

  • Year 12 Masterclass Day
  • Year 10 Pathways Visit
  • Taster Days: Natural Sciences, Classics, Archaeology, ASNC, Philosophy, TRPR, and HSPS
  • West Midlands Roadshow

Schools across Camden will have been contacted about an exciting opportunity to collaborate with us on a scheme aiming to bring schools together and offer localised outreach support. This scheme is available for students in Year 12 currently.

We hope that by establishing consistent contact via this scheme, students become familiar with the Outreach and Admissions team at Girton and respond well to the localised attention and support we are offering, rather than just in a one-off online session. Over time, we hope students will become inspired and excited to move forward through their educational journey, equipped with the critical skills needed to apply for more competitive universities.

The scheme currently includes an in-person talk at Westminster Kingsway College in January 2026 and a visit to Girton College in February-March 2026.

If you are a teacher in Camden and would be interested in joining this scheme, please contact access@girton.cam.ac.uk

Online events

Make sure to follow our social media accounts to keep up with our 'A Subject A Day in May' series.

It is important for students in Year 10-12 to be thinking about what subject they may want to study at University as early as possible, as the choices they make post-16 will impact what doors are open to them.

This will be a series of short videos giving a glimpse into the subjects and courses offered at Girton College. Viewers can hear from our own Fellows and students discussing different aspects of the courses, whether that is a structural overview of the content, or papers that they particularly enjoy learning or leaching about.

To support students who have been offered an interview at the University of Cambridge, we will be running a webinar with our Senior Admissions Tutor and the Schools Liaison and Outreach Officer. This session will give guidance on how to approach the interview, as well as reviewing mock-interview resources and giving advice.

Details: You’ll Fit In is a free programme that supports students with the Cambridge admissions process but also aims to reassure potential applicants that, if they were to apply and obtain an offer, they would not feel out of place socially while studying at Cambridge. Those who sign up will be able to participate in online webinars that will offer advice about admissions, information on student life and the opportunity to hear from current students from a range of backgrounds and ask them lots of questions. Parents and guardians are invited to join us for their own Q&A session. In addition, a smaller group of participants who meet widening participation criteria will experience life as a Cambridge student by joining us for a three-day residential at Trinity Hall in either April 2026 or August 2026.

For the first time in 2025/26 we will be running a limited number of super curricular exploration sessions for students to get a flavour of small group teaching at Cambridge, while improving their oracy skills and exploring topics outside the curriculum.

What are MSC Summer Schools?

The summer schools provide a practical and engaging experience of medical education through hands-on activities, online learning, and expert-led sessions. Students will:

  • Experience what it's like to be a medical student
  • Learn about a wide range of medical careers
  • Receive support with university applications, admissions tests, and interviews
  • Build confidence and meet like-minded peers
  • May become eligible for contextual admissions at some medical schools

Who can apply?

The programmes are designed for Year 11 and 12 students in England from underrepresented backgrounds, particularly those with limited access to medical outreach. Students can apply for residential or commuter places depending on what suits their circumstances best.

Please note: a separate online-only medical summer school and dental residential summer schools will open for applications in January 2026, and more information will follow later in the term.

Key Dates:

  • Applications close: 30 November 2025
  • Decisions shared by: 23 January 2026

Some programmes include compulsory online sessions before the main residentials in Summer 2026, so it’s important applicants check dates carefully.
