Geography Taster Day 2019

Wednesday, 6th March 2019

A day for students in years 10 & 11 to explore the subject, and learn more about the study of Geography beyond GCSE.

The programme will include sessions by University academics designed to inspire students to consider taking this exciting subject on to A Level and university.

Students will have the opportunity to meet with current geography students, and experience taster sessions on a range of subjects. See here for more information:

Geography Taster Day Programme

The day will:

  • Explain the breadth covered by university courses in Geography.
  • Encourage students to develop an interest in these subjects and demonstrate the value of studying them at university.
  • Enable students to experience taster sessions on a range of relevant topics
  • Inform them about their A Level choices and how this will affect their university applications.

There is no cost to attend the event. Lunch is provided, but we regret we are unable to cover travel expenses or offer overnight accommodation.

Please note:

  • Students must be in Year 10 or 11, and be nominated by their school/college.
  • Each school/college may put forward two primary nominations, with the option of third reserve nomination to be considered if space is available.
  • Students should be on track to achieve good GCSE scores
  • Students do not need to be studying Geography or planning to do so at A level, but they should have an interest in the subject area.
  • Before nominating, please check that students are able to attend the Taster Day.

Nominations are open from Wednesday 16th January until Monday 25th February. Nomination forms can be found here.
