Research Themes

I undertook a PhD investigating differing means to increase exercise capacity for those living with COPD at University of Glasgow, examining nutritional adjuncts and inhaler impacts upon ventilation. I have maintained an interest in pulmonary rehabilitation.

My clinical speciality is Respiratory Medicine and my research interests align to clinical practice.

  • Lived experience of people with COPD and addressing health inequalities in relation to pulmonary rehabilitation, particularly at the intersection of deprivation and ethnicity
  • Exercise physiology and breathing pattern disorders
  • Resuscitation decision making and wider impacts upon care
  • Determinants of non-communicable lung disease in Africa

Responsibilities

I am a clinical Director of Studies for clinical medicine at Girton (third to final year).

I hold a university teaching position overseeing the Student Selected Components of the Medical course as well as the incoming and outgoing elective programmes. I have introduced medical languages and entrepreneurship training to over 120 medical students annually. In the summer of 2022, I led development of a programme accommodating 20 clinical students from Kharkiv University, Ukraine.
