Visiting the College

Open days

The next University-wide Open Day is:

  • Friday 11 September 2026: Colleges Open Day (Colleges and some support services will be open. Subject Departments will not be open)

Girton College will be open 9:30am-4:30pm on Friday 11 September. We are excited to welcome prospective applicants to the College, and join us in the Stanley Library:

  • Our very own Student Ambassadors are offering guided tours with an opportunity to view a range of on-site student accommodation. Tours last 30-40 minutes and the final tour will take place at 4:30pm and no later.
  • Our Admissions Team will be on hand for questions and advice throughout the day- there are no silly questions!
  • Complimentary refreshments are available.
  • Free, limited parking is available to those who are visiting Girton College as part of the Open Day in the Mare's Run Car Park. Overflow parking may be available, weather-dependent.

Visitor Information

We are happy to welcome school groups to our Open Days. In order to capture all the information we need, and so that everyone receives appropriate preparatory information and a ticket ahead of the event, both the teachers and each student in your group must make individual bookings via our websiteOnce a booking has been made, separate reservations to visit Colleges are not normally required.

The Open Day is not suitable for a very large groups and so we ask that you only bring Year 12 and 13 students thinking of applying to Cambridge. Our Open Day events are very popular and we restrict numbers to ensure all prospective applicants have the opportunity to visit and to protect the health and safety of our visitors.  If you would like to arrange a visit for a larger group or an aspiration-raising visit at an alternative time of year, we recommend contacting your Area Link College in the first instance.

The Student Admissions and Access Team are able to advise on coach and minibus parking as well as support with other Open Day related enquiries. You can get in touch with them on caoevents@admin.cam.ac.uk

If you spent time in care or you are without familial support (estranged), you may have specific needs or concerns when applying to or starting university. We know that it can be important to visit the University before you apply. For further information on the support we can offer, please visit the University webpage.

If you are visiting Cambridge and would like to look around Girton College, please email us at access@girton.cam.ac.uk for further details on a self-guided tour. If you have admissions specific questions, we would recommend you take a look at our subject pages in the first instance. If you have further questions, please contact admissions@girton.cam.ac.uk

Visitors are welcome to look around the College grounds between 9.00 and 17:00 daily. The College is closed for tours in December, March, and during the May/June exam period. Please note, the Library is open to current members of the College only and to others by appointment or as part of a guided tour. The Archive and Special Collections are open by appointment only.

You can find the Virtual Tour for Girton on the University of Cambridge webpage.

Please see the Outreach & Widening Participation page for more information on events for school groups.
