For Cambridge Jazz Festival, Girton College’s celebrated jazz scheme brings together an all-star band of top British talent for a special performance of Miles Davis’ seminal album Kind of Blue, to celebrate the centenary of one history’s most important jazz musicians. Recorded in 1959, Kind of Blue remains the top selling jazz album of all time, and Girton’s Old Hall offers the perfect venue to hear a memorable performance of this genre defining music in delightful intimacy and detail.
Multi-award-winners Olivia Cuttill (trumpet) and Tony Kofi (alto sax) along with Girton Jazz’s artistic director Tim Boniface (tenor sax) take the front line, backed by inimitable star pianist James Pearson (Ronnie Scott’s All Stars), another celebrated award winner Flo Moore (bass), and one of Britain’s most renowned drummers, the exceptional Steve Brown, completing the lineup.
