Responsibilities

I am the inaugural Director of the University’s Centre for Music Performance – a new department created to strengthen Cambridge’s support for extracurricular music and to ensure that a rounded education remains central to student life.

The Centre reflects the varied musical interests of today’s student body – 25,000 brilliant undergraduates and postgraduates of all backgrounds from more than 140 countries – by supporting activity across classical, popular and global genres. It provides opportunities for students at every level of experience, from beginners to performers of the highest calibre.

I read Law and Music at Christ’s College and previously held senior management positions at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Academy of Ancient Music.  Before returning to Cambridge, I supported the University’s musical life in a voluntary capacity for many years, including eight as Chair of the University Musical Society.
