Girton College Music Society presents an original chamber opera. This hour-long work follows a chaotic afternoon at the beginning of World War II as a flustered Cabinet Minister grapples with the re-emergence of the White Feather Campaign, a movement designed to shame conscientious objectors. Couched in a warm tonal language, Plumes of Smoke promises comedy and tragedy, satire and thrill in equal measure.
