Searching for resources
There are two key library catalogues you may use when studying at Cambridge:
Girton Library catalogue (Heritage Cirqa) – search Girton Library’s collection and see if items are available or already on loan. See our eGuide for further information.
iDiscover – to search across the University’s print and electronic collections (including books, eBooks, journals, newspapers, articles and much more, from other colleges, faculty and department libraries, and the University Library. Most, but not all, of Girton’s collection can be found here. See our Searching iDiscover eGuide for further information.
You will be able to borrow from Girton’s Library and the University Library and you may also find it helpful to visit and use the Philosophy Library (Casimir Lewy Library). However, there may be other libraries within Cambridge which stock useful resources. For a full list of the Cambridge libraries see the directory and check each library for access guidelines.

- ARCAT is the leading online resource of FREE building product information. No registration is required.
- Architonic is an online community for architects, designers, home-owners and design enthusiasts with over 400,000 premium design products and materials.
- Barbour Product Search is an interactive, online building product search platform for the construction sector that enables specifiers to source products and manufacturers.
- Building products index A search facility to help with identifying products, trade names or suppliers from over 250,000 pages of data.
- GreenSpec promotes sustainable building products, materials and construction techniques.
- esi.info Supplier and product information on the market, combined with articles and case studies to keep you up-to-date with sector innovations.
- Material district Exploring joint innovation towards a more sustainable and improved quality of society, introducing new material solutions to design professionals.
- Riba product selector.com Engage with designers and specifiers and share your product information online.
- Sweets Constructions Building product source with comprehensive product information, CAD details, BIM objects, specs, catalogs, galleries, green product information CEUs and more on over 100,000 products.
