Samuel de Courcy-Ireland (1998-2018)

Samuel de Courcy-Ireland

It is with deep sadness that the College has learnt that Samuel de Courcy-Ireland, a third year mathematician, passed away a few days before Christmas.

Samuel was a very talented student. He was an inspiration for his friends from Cambridge and around the world, sharing his passion for rock climbing, mountaineering, windsurfing and music. This past summer, Samuel spent two months in Dang, Nepal, teaching in a school for underprivileged children supported by a Nepal-UK charity – it was a place that he loved and looked forward to returning to.

Samuel will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His death is an immeasurable loss to our community, whose thoughts are with his family and close friends.
