The Library Syndicate invites applications for the Oschinsky Research Associateship for the tenure of 1 October 2024 to 31 July 2025 in collaboration with Girton College.

The Oschinsky Research Associate will be free to pursue research of their choosing in any aspect of the University Library's collections relating to its medieval manuscripts or medieval archive collections, including their palaeography, diplomatic or codicology. It is expected that a non-stipendiary fellowship at Girton College will be offered to the successful candidate.

The Fellowship is open to graduates in any discipline of any university and nationality. Applicants should hold a doctorate in a relevant field and the following criteria will be considered when evaluating applications:

  • Academic record of the candidate, taking into account the career stage of the applicant
  • Suitability of the research proposal within the fields of medieval manuscript or archival studies, including palaeography, diplomatic and codicology
  • Potential of the research proposal to be of benefit to future scholars using the collections of the University Library
