Tutorships (Undergraduate & Postgraduate)

Girton College wishes to appoint up to two Undergraduate College Tutors and up to two Postgraduate Tutors to start in September 2026.  Applications are invited from College staff and fellows, including Bye-Fellows and non-stipendiary fellows.

The College Tutor has a pastoral role to support students and to direct them to the appropriate resources for further help. The Tutorial team works in collaboration with the Head of Welfare and Wellbeing, College Nurses, Student Services (Tutorial Office), College Chaplain, College Porters, College Disability Liaison Officer and University Welfare, Wellbeing and Accessibility Services. Training will be provided and mentoring is available. The Senior Tutor hosts online Tutors’ Forum meetings fortnightly in term for up to an hour, which all Tutors are strongly encouraged to attend.  In addition, the Postgraduate Tutors meet online once a week for up to an hour.

The College Ordinance outlining each role is attached and the Senior Tutor is happy to meet with anyone interested in applying to discuss the role further. Wednesday 13 May: 2.30pm – 6pm; Thursday 14 May: 12pm – 3pm or 5pm – 6pm.

Appointment to a College Tutorship is an Official Fellowship qualifying office. These appointments are for an initial period of up to three years.

The Undergraduate Tutor Stipend in 2026/2027 is tbd; in 2025/26 the stipend ranged from £116.40 per student per annum for first year tutees to £128.59 per student per annum for third year and other finalists.  The Postgraduate Tutor Stipend in 2026/2027 is tbd; in 2025/26 the stipend was £149.76 per student per annum.

Interviews will take place online on the mornings of Wednesday 27 May and Thursday 28 May.
