College Houses

Girton College owns a small number of houses close to the College that are available for second and third year undergraduate students. The houses vary in size from three person properties to the sixteen bed Grange in the College grounds. The houses give students more independent living while still having the security of being in College accommodation.

The properties have shared kitchen and bathroom facilities within them.

Bedding is not provided but a bedding pack can be bought from the college before students move in.

Residents are responsible for cleaning their own rooms and keeping communal areas clean and tidy between the cleaners’ weekly visits and must also undertake to segregate their own rubbish for recycling, put the bins outside on the appropriate collection day and bring them in again.

The rooms in College houses have a 37 or 38 week tenancy which means that students keep their rooms over the Christmas and Easter vacations and do not have to move belongings out. The College closes for two weeks over Christmas and students are not able to stay in the College houses over this period but can leave belongings in their room.

The residence charge for College houses is the same as the residence charge for rooms in College, but other charges and arrangements may be different. For more information please see the Fees and Charges web pages:
