Girton College’s Director of Music, Dr Martin Ennis, and Director of Chapel Music, Gareth Wilson, warmly invites all former Girton College Music students and Choir members to the Music and Choir Alumni Reunion on Sunday 23 February, 2020 .

The idea behind this event, which follows on from our first successful reunion event in 2015, is to give people who may not have seen each other for years the chance to mingle, and to give former (and current) Choir members an opportunity to join with their peers, across the generations, in a special Evensong.

The day will start with tea and coffee at 11.00 am in the Fellows’ Rooms before a choir rehearsal, which starts at 11.30 am in Chapel.  A light lunch will be served at 1.30 pm in the Fellows’ Rooms before the early Evensong, which starts at 2.30 pm in Chapel.  As this event is part of the extended 150th-anniversary season, the repertoire is likely to include two pieces associated with 1869, Girton’s year of foundation; these are Brahms’s ‘Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen’ and Bruckner’s ‘Locus iste’.  A formal meal will follow in Hall at 4.00 pm; this will take the form of a two-course ‘gourmet’ lunch, featuring a roast (or vegetarian alternative) and dessert.  Following this, at about 5.45 pm, there will be post-prandial coffee, mints, and drinks served in the Fellows’ Rooms.  We expect the day to finish sometime between 6.30 and 7.30 pm.  The dress code will be lounge suits or equivalent. NB: Those who do not expect to sing in the Evensong are welcome to arrive at 1.30 pm in time for the light lunch.

The price of the day is £45 per person, the sum needed to cover the costs of the various meals, drinks receptions, staffing etc.  We’re expecting the majority of those attending to be alumni; however, if you would like to bring a partner, please indicate this in your reply.  Tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

To make a booking for the event please use the online booking form below. Alternatively, reservations can be made over the phone by calling +44 (0) 1223 764 935. We would like to receive bookings by Friday 14 February 2020.
