Annual Library Talk - 'Episodes in the life of a publisher: from manuscripts to e-books'

All alumni and friends are warmly invited to the 2017 Girton College Annual Library event at 11am in the Old Kitchens on Saturday September 23rd.

This year's guest speaker will be Dr Kate Brett (1977), Publisher in the Academic Group of the University of Cambridge Press and a Girton alumna, who will give a talk entitled 'Episodes in the life of a publisher: from manuscripts to e-books'.

Kate read Modern Languages and went on to do doctoral work on medieval French poetry. After a research fellowship at St Edmund's College, where she is currently a Fellow and Secretary to the Governing Body, she joined Cambridge University Press as a graduate trainee and became a member of the Humanities editorial team. She has held several commissioning portfolios including European literature, Language and Linguistics, Religious Studies, and currently Music and Theatre. She also spent five years on secondment to the Cambridge Library Collection, which digitised and reissued a wide-ranging body of publications from the 'long' nineteenth century.
