All Alumni are warmly invited to the annual Gardens Talk. This year the talk will be given by Dr Roland Randall and Paul Read about 'Girton’s Orchard: its history and importance in a regional context'.
Planted in the late 19th century to provide a supply of fruit for the College's kitchens, Girton College's historic orchard has plum, pear, apple and cobnut trees with over thirty varieties. Dr Roland Randall, Ecologist and Life Fellow at Girton College and Paul Read, Co-Chair of Orchards East will talk through the fascinating history of this orchard and the importance of orchards to the East of England. Attendees can enjoy a visit to the Orchard and the College's gardens on a self-guided tour after the talk.
