We are pleased to invite all alumni to an informal drinks reception and talk, by the Mistress, for Girton and Cambridge Alumni on Tuesday 6th December in the Cambridge in America offices, New York.
The Mistresses’ talk will be entitled ‘Militant Jihad and the Battle for Hearts and Minds’. In this talk the Mistress will explore how terrorist organisations like al-Qaeda and so-called Islamic State infiltrate societies and spread at a grass-roots level inside the Middle East. Drawing on her field research in Yemen, she will also reflect on lessons we might learn from the ‘terrorists’ themselves.
The event will begin with a drinks reception, followed by a talk by the Mistress and ending with some networking and nibbles. It will be a great opportunity to meet the new Mistress and learn more about her research, as well as to re-connect with old friends from Girton, and to meet new ones.
To book in, please fill out the booking form or email firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday 2nd December.
