Chapel Service

Advent to Christmas Carol Service

music sheet with music symbol, christmas tree branch, and baubles

Journeying from the beginning of Advent through to Christmas and 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing', this beautiful and very popular service features poetry and Bible readings, choral pieces by our wonderful College Chapel Choir, and congregational carols for all to join in.

In addition, there is an afternoon tea in the Stanley Library from 4:30pm to 5:45pm for all who are attending the service. At 5:45 we encourage people to move through to the Chapel.

As always, the service and tea are open to all, including visitors from beyond our College Community, and we expect it to be popular. The service lasts about an hour. It is customary for Students and Fellows to wear gowns for this service.

It would help us a great deal - particularly where responsible catering is concerned - if any of you intending to come could drop the Chaplain a quick email (chaplain@girton.cam.ac.uk) to say you plan to attend. That way we will have a good idea how many to cater for, and a rough idea of how to set out Chapel seating.

To feature music by Maddalena Casulana, Libby Croad, Rachel Hill, Kenneth Leighton, and Gareth Wilson.

This service is usually very well attended, and we recommend arriving in plenty of time.
