College Data Protection Policy

An updated Data Protection Policy was approved by Council in June 2017.

Requests for personal information

Under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 you may ask the College for any information it processes about you as an individual. Please note that there will usually be a charge of £10 for this service and that the College will normally have 40 calendar days to respond to your request.  Valid proof of identity will be required before a request will be processed.

Requests for personal information about yourself

If you wish to make an enquiry about data that relates to yourself, please complete the Subject Access Request form, which is also available in hard copy from the College’s JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING .

Requests for personal information on behalf of someone

If you wish to make an enquiry about data on behalf of someone, please complete the Subject Access Request form, which is also available in hard copy from the College’s JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING .  Please note, that written authorisation and valid proof of identity is required from the data subject before a request will be processed.

For all enquiries regarding Family History research, please contact our College Archive.

Requests for College information

If your requests relates to general information regarding the College rather than personal information, you can make a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.  Details regarding how to make a valid Freedom of Information request can be found on our website.

Transcripts and certificates

If you require a copy of your original degree certificate or a transcript detailing your academic career, please refer to the Cambridge University Student Registry's website regarding degree certificates and transcripts.

If you are attending an event at Girton College or you wish to have images of yourself removed from the College website please read the images notes.
