Just Graduated?

Once a Girtonian always a Girtonian. Where ever life takes you after leaving the College we hope that you will stay in touch and let us know your news; whether it's about your career, hobbies, interests, family or any other life-events. You are always welcome to visit the College, either as part of our extensive events programme, or if you just happen to be in the area. Family and friends are welcome too! Please find below further information about the College's activities and the services available to you as an alumnus/alumna which we hope will be useful. If you have any queries or suggestions do let us know.

Update your Details: Let the College know where you are and how we can reach you.

Social Networks: Join us on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter for the latest goings-on in College and news about Girtonians.

Publications: Girton has 2 annual publications, The Year and the Development Newsletter, in addition there is the termly eNewsletter.

Events and Reunions: There is a busy schedule of events each year including Alumni Formal Halls, year group and subject reunions, professional networking events, lectures, concerts and exhibitions. Events are held in the College, around the UK and abroad.

Sports, GASA and The Infidel Boat Club: Each year alumni vs students fixtures are held, including, rugby, football and netball, please email the Alumni Officer if you would like to be put in touch with the alumni captain or if you would like to add a fixture. The Girton Alumni Sports Association (GASA) was launched in 2010 to foster sporting networks between alumni and students. Activities to date have included sporting themed events, an annual/bi-annual networking lunch in London (the non-sporty are welcome too!) and a Sports Dinner in College each November. Join the GASA Facebook group for more information. The Infidels Boat Club (TIBC) was formed over 10 years ago and has enabled many rowing alumni to get out on the water as well as provide valuable support for the Girton College Boat Club.

Regional associations and international networks: Across the UK and around the world there are a plethora of volunteer-led alumni associations for Girton and Cambridge alumni – let the College know if you are keen to set up your own group.

Dining and staying in College: As an Old Girtonian you are welcome to dine and stay in College (subject to availability and there are some restrictions). Contact the Alumni Officer in the first instance to make the arrangements.

Cantab.net email for life: All University of Cambridge leavers are provided with a free cantab.net email address.

CAMCard: The CAMCard is issued all alumni of Cambridge free of charge. The card identifies you as a member of the University and comes with a host of benefits.

Library Access, College and University: At the discretion of the College Librarian, and subject to pressure on resources, you may use the College Library during normal opening hours. Please contact the Librarian in advance if you wish to do so. Cambridge MA or postgraduate degree holders are entitled to use the University Library and borrow books.

Transcripts and degree certificates: Extended Self-Service (ESS) allows alumni to access their Self-Service account in CamSIS. It is available to any previous student who matriculated after 1980 and access allows alumni to view exam grades, view a copy of an unofficial transcript and apply for some graduation ceremonies.

Alumni can also contact the Student Registry for information on how to order official transcripts and degree certificates

The MA Degree: Two years and one term after graduating with a BA, alumni are eligible to take their MA degree, either in person or in absence. In the December of each year the College will contact via email, all those who become eligible and invite them to attend the Congregation in March and to the MA Dinner held that evening. The degree can of course be conferred at any Congregation, but the March Congregation is traditionally the occasion when alumni return to collect their MA.
