Economics College Teaching Officer (CTO)


Job Description

Girton College, University of Cambridge, is seeking a College Lecturer in Economics for 5 years in the first instance, renewable to a continuing appointment subject to satisfactory performance, starting on 1 October 2020.  This position includes teaching, research and administrative duties and opportunities.

The post-holder will offer teaching within the Economics Tripos and be active in research in Economics.  Applicants must be able to provide teaching in final year micro or macroeconomics. Teaching will be of undergraduate members of the College and, through exchange arrangements, of other Colleges.  The standard teaching load for a CTO is 240 hours of supervision teaching during the academic year.

The person will, among other tasks, also be required to act as Director of Studies in Economics for at least one year-group of students at Girton College, and engage in high-level research in Economics, with publications and participation in scholarly activity.

The stipend payable will be on the College Teaching Officer scale, pro rata, which currently ranges from £30,395 – £39,609 per annum and is pensionable under USS. Experience and qualifications will determine the lecturer’s starting point on the scale.  There is an additional stipend of £152.68 per student per year (pensionable) for Direction of Studies.
