Professor Dorothy Wedderburn
We are saddened to learn of the death of distinguished alumna Professor Dorothy Wedderburn. Professor Wedderburn (née Barnard) read Economics at Girton 1943-6 before working for a time at the Board of Trade. She then returned to academia, where her work on Social Policy, both in Cambridge, and subsequently at Imperial College, became increasingly influential. In 1981 she was elected Principal of Bedford College, and after the merger with Royal Holloway in 1985, became Principal of the Royal Holloway and Bedford New College. She was additionaly a Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of London 1986-88.
