Girton Launches Humanities Writing Competition
Girton College has launched its first Humanities Writing Competition. Open to any Yr 12 student of any combination of subjects, the competition is based on six objects that are housed in the Lawrence Room the College's antiquities museum. Students are invited to use one or more of the objects as starting points for their own research to be taken in any direction they choose, and to then produce a written response.
Deliberately designed to be broad, it is hoped that the competition will be an opportunity for sixth formers to combine the use of their own imagination and interests with an academic research project.
The competition has the kind sponsorship of Cambridge University Press.
The closing date for applications to be received by the College is Friday 16th March.
