The Feast Celestial Posted on Oct. 19, 2009
We are pleased to announce the release of Girton College Chapel Choir's new CD - The Feast Celestial - recorded during the Choir's debut tour to the U.S.A in the summer.The disc will be offered for purchase immediately after the 140th Anniversary Concert at Goldsmith’s Hall in London on 3 November and will be on sale from the Porters' Lodge from 4 November at a cost of £12.

The Lawrence Room is now open to the public for free every Thursday between 2pm and 4pm.
Girton College’s newly-refurbished small museum, the Lawrence Room, has now opened its doors to the public every Thursday between 2pm and 4pm (and at other times via prior appointment); admission to this exhibition is free. The College’s wide range of important artefacts and antiquities are now on show in their full glory in state-of-the-art display cases, and with fully-supporting information.There are three major collections, namely Anglo-Saxon, Egyptian and Mediterranean, which include significant, and in some cases unique pieces such as ...

Fellow's dissertation wins prize Posted on Aug. 25, 2009
We are pleased to announce that Dr Danielle van den Heuvel has won the PhD Dissertation Prize (pre 1800 category) of the International Economic History Association. Her winning thesis is titled “Women and Entrepreneurship: Female Traders in the Northern Netherlands, c. 1580–1815”.It was awarded during the XVth World Economic History Congress, held from 3–7 August 2009 in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The jury consisted of Beverly Lemire (chair), Philippe Minard and Om Prakash.

The Choir of Girton College Cambridge
US Tour Summer 2009The College’s Chapel Choir has recently completed its first ever tour of the USA. This included a performance at St Thomas’s Church 5th Avenue in New York, the country’s premier venue for sacred music.

US Tour Summer 2009
30 July – 17 AugustThis summer’s tour will mark Girton College Chapel Choir’s debut performances in the United States.
In this the 800th anniversary of the University of Cambridge and the 140th anniversary of Girton College,the choir will serve as good-will musical ambassadors for these institutions. The ensemble will sing in the foremost ecclesiastical venues on the eastern seaboard,including Washington National Cathedral and The National Shrine in Washington D.C.as well as St Thomas Church Fifth venue, New York.

Girtonian Awarded Nigel W Brown Prize Posted on July 15, 2009
Mateusz Borowiak has been awarded the 2009 Nigel W Brown music prize by The Stradivari Trust.
The Nigel W Brown Music Prize is an annual competition open to undergraduates of the University of Cambridge.
The Stradivari Trust was created by Nigel Brown OBE in September 2004 to support various musical and literary projects, both in Cambridge and nationally.

Senior Research Fellow wins ASME & IGTI Best Paper Award Posted on July 15, 2009
Dr Jonathan Ong, a Mitsubishi Senior Research Fellow in Engineering, has been selected by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI) Turbomachinery Committee as a Best Paper award winner. His paper entitled “Hot Streak and Vane Coolant Migration in a Downstream Rotor”, was presented at the ASME Turbo Expo 2008.
