Girton College IT
Girton College has superb computing facilities which are available to all College members. The main site offers two computer rooms that have 24 hour access and an IT Resource Centre, located in the College Library. Wolfson Court offers a 24 hour accessible computer room that is situated above the Fletcher Moulton Room and Law Library.
All computers in these shared computer areas are connected to the University Computing Service’s ‘Managed Cluster Service’, thereby providing access to department-specific software and a centrally managed file store and printing facility.
All student rooms at College and Wolfson Court are internally wired to the College’s network, whilst the rooms in the student houses are connected wirelessly back to the College. Students living in hostels near the city centre are provided with an internal wireless network connected to an external service provider.
Lapwing Wireless ‘hotspots’ are located around the College and Wolfson Court providing wireless access to College members and guests alike. Furthermore, Eduroam is available via the Lapwing wireless service for academic visitors.
The Computer Office manages all of the IT systems in College and provides support for hardware and software to all College members. Internal training and advice is offered for all College systems.
