Getting to Girton College

Girton College’s main site is situated just over 2 miles north-west of Cambridge city centre. It can be reached easily by car, or via public transport, taxi, or bicycle from the city centre.

By car

From the north:  Approach Cambridge on the A14. Keep left past the interchange with the M11 and then take the right hand fork on to the A1307 in the direction of the City (Huntingdon Road). The College is 500 metres after the junction.

From the south: Approach Cambridge on the M11. Leave the motorway at Junction 13 and proceed towards the city centre on the A1303. Turn left and follow signs for the A1307 (Huntingdon Road). The main College site is 2 miles north-west of the city centre and is well-signed from the A1307.

Cambridge is a busy city. Attempting to drive through the centre of city can be very time consuming. Traffic is often heavy, parts of the centre are pedestrianised, and the one-way system takes some getting used to.

Information about Cambridge’s extensive park and ride system is available on the County Council’s website.

Information about car parking in Cambridge is available on the City Council’s website.

Bus

There are regular buses from Cambridge city centre to the main College site. Stagecoach numbers Citi 5 and Citi 6 and Whippet Numbers 1A and 5 run from Cambridge bus station (Drummer Street) and Emmanuel Street to Girton Corner.

There are no direct buses from the railway station to the main College site. Stagecoach bus services Citi 1, Citi 3 and Citi 7 go from the railway station to the city centre.
