Thinking of applying to Cambridge? What does Girton have to offer its undergraduates?

Girton has a strong community, and is renowned as having a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Being founded as a women’s college our site is a couple of miles from the City Centre, but from this we have benefited. Now being a College which is equally balanced between men and women, we are situated in beautiful rural surroundings only a 15 minute cycle from the centre, in which there is no grass you can’t walk on! We have excellent facilities including a large College library that caters for undergraduate needs in all subjects, a wide range of student social activities, and we are the only college that boasts an indoor heated swimming pool and all of our sporting facilities on site. We have our own portrait gallery, antiquities museum and we even have our own College cat called ‘Buster’!

To quote one of our undergraduates in the University prospectus, ‘Girton is like a fairy-tale castle retreat. The perfect College for when you just need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The community is very strong in Girton; you can’t walk down a corridor without saying hello to another person!’

Schools Liaison

We are always pleased to hear from individuals, parents and supporters, schools and colleges, interested in our Schools Liaison projects. We are also able to advise on upcoming events, and are more than happy to arrange individual visits to meet specific needs.
