More Information
Girton College Music Society
Girton College Music Society organises much of the college music making, in the form of its weekly Sunday afternoon recitals (by both students and visiting professionals), and termly orchestral concerts. GCMS concerts attract audiences from inside and outside college, including appreciative music lovers from Girton village. A healthy level of input from the Director of Music and Assistant Director of Music brings a level of professionalism to student endeavours, but at the same time there is plenty of scope for students to take charge and be experimental. Recent programmes have included Appalachian Spring, Rhapsody in Blue, Peter and the Wolf and Poulenc’s Gloria.
Girton College is also a member of the ‘Orchestra on the Hill’, which draws together instrumentalists from Girton, New Hall, Churchill and Fitzwilliam Colleges for regular orchestral rehearsal and concerts.
