I love to go a-bicycling
By K.J.Parry, 1967/68
At this period the College Bus, which had been cancelled more than 20 years previously, was reinstated for a while, and proved very popular, especially in the winter terms.
New Hall was founded in 1954 and moved to its present site in 1964.
Tune: I love to go a-wandering
Lyrics
I love to go a-bicycling,
Alo-ong Storey’s Way,
And as I go, I love to sing
A Girton roundelay.
Chorus:
Fol-de-re, Fol-de-ra,
Fol-de-re, Fol-de-ra-a-a-a-
.... A Girton roundelay.
But when I climb up Castle Hill
In the wind and squall
A strong desire does then me fill
To be-e at New Hall.
Chorus:
Fol-de-re, Fol-de-ra,
Fol-de-re, Fol-de-ra-a-a-a-
.... To be-e at New Hall.
But now there is a Girton Bus
To take us into town
So if you ask a vote from us
Girton wins hands down.
Chorus:
Fol-de-re, Fol-de-ra,
Fol-de-re, Fol-de-ra-a-a-a-
.... Girton wins hands down.
