Recordings
Girton College Chapel Choir began recording in 1995 with ‘All in a Garden Green’, and since then has added a further five CDs to its name. A seventh, a programme of sacred and profane music from nineteenth-century England, is about to be released. The choir has also broadcast on BBC and on radio and television stations overseas (including Radio Hong Kong, Radio Thailand, Malaysian Television and various Japanese networks).

Res Miranda ~ 2005
Res Miranda was recorded during July 2005 in Girton College Chapel. Primarily a Christmas disc, the recording incorporates a variety of both German and English music from the seventeenth and twentieth centuries and traces the familiar Christmas narrative from the season of Advent to the birth of Christ. The choir is accompanied on several tracks by members of the Gabrieli Consort, one of the foremost early-music ensembles active today.

Volume 17 of The Complete New English Hymnal ~ 2004
The Complete New English Hymnal Vol. 17 was recorded during April 2004 in Girton College Chapel. The CD forms part of Priory Records’ ongoing project to produce a complete recording of the Hymnal, and includes well-known hymns alongside plainsong and chant from the Anglican liturgy. Drawing from the rich history of hymn writing, the content ranges from ‘Joy and triumph everlasting’, a translation of twelfth-century Latin words set to music from the 1551 Genevan Psalter, to ‘Faithful vigil ended’, a paraphrase of the Nunc dimittis composed in 1967. The recording includes a number of descants written specially for the CD by members of the choir.

The Ages of Elizabeth ~ 2002
The Ages of Elizabeth was recorded in the Collégiale of St-Imier, Switzerland in July 2002. Released to coincide with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II, the disc contrasts sacred music composed during her reign (1952— ) with pieces from the reign of Queen Elizabeth I (1558–1603). The CD includes two works written especially for the choir.

O Porta Caeli ~ 2000
This CD was recorded in the summer of 2000 and includes a wide variety of Italian Renaissance and Baroque music accompanied by period instruments. Alongside well-known works such as Monteverdi’s Beatus Vir and Lotti’s Crucifixus are to be found lesser-known Magnificats by Albinoni and Pergolesi.

All in a Garden Green ~ 1995
The choir’s first recording, made in 1995, draws on both the traditional repertory of the English choral tradition and other European music. The title has obvious musical references to Peter Philips’s beautiful motet, but also alludes to the delightful surroundings in which the College itself is situated.
